History

Palisades Preschool & Kindergarten, Fort Lee (founded in 1965) and Palisades Country Day School, Closter (founded in 1993) were created by Mary Ann Hubschman.  Mrs. Hubschman has recognized the value of combining academics with play since the schools inceptions.

Philosophy

Our goal is to provide a meaningful and integrated approach to education.  Natural learners, young children are curious about the world around them.  They use their senses to explore and discover.  Activities that utilize large and fine motor skills are part of the children’s daily experiences.  We encourage children to express themselves while promoting respect for one another.

Parents bring to us the most precious possession in their lives – their child.  They come to us trusting that their child will be cared for in a safe, educational and loving environment.  We enable each child to experience the joy of discovery as they move from the safety of home and family to that of our school.  Our parents tell us that one of the things they love most about our school is that their children love coming to school each day!

Environment

Our classrooms are large and bright.  Each classroom features developmentally appropriate activity centers including; block areas, dramatic play areas, manipulatives, art, science discovery centers and literacy centers (including reading nooks, writing areas and technology).

Our playground is enticing, featuring a combination of equipment such as: climbers, slides, digging and building areas and a large assortment of bikes.  Teachers continuously use a variety of materials and games to enhance the outdoor experience.
